Transfer News: Mourinho readying sensational deal to bring key Chelsea star to Man United

Diego Costa

According to reports from Don Balon, Jose Mourinho will look to seal a sensational transfer for Chelsea striker Diego Costa should he take over at Manchester United this summer.

The Portuguese brought the 27-year-old to Stamford Bridge during the summer 2014 transfer window and he has gone on to net 35 times in 71 appearances for the west London club, firing them to last season’s Premier League title.

Costa and Mourinho infamously fell out as the reigning champions imploded during the first half of the season, but Don Balon nonetheless claim the Special One will pursue a shock reunion with the feisty centre-forward if he’s appointed Manchester United manager as widely expected.

The Red Devils are desperate to source added firepower during the coming transfer window, having scored the second-least goals of any side in the Premier League’s top half this season, and Costa is one of the names near the top of Mourinho’s transfer wishlist.

However, former club Atletico Madrid have made no secret of their interest in re-signing the 6 foot 2 striker, who helped them clinch the La Liga title during the 2013/14 season, and will be expected to rival any approach from Mourinho’s United in the coming transfer window.
