According to reports from Mirror Football, Liverpool are ‘confident’ they’ll win the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze during the summer transfer window.
The German international is best famed for scoring the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final but he’s failed to have a similar impact at club level since swapping Borussia Dortmund for the Bavarians in summer 2013.

Having struggled for fitness and form this season and now verging upon the final twelve months of his Allianz Arena contract, many expect the 23-year-old to be on the move during the summer transfer window. Mirror Football claim Gotze has ‘made it clear’ he wants to leave the German champions.
Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid were all mooted as potential suitors earlier this month, whilst reports last week speculated a developing transfer battle between Arsenal and former club Dortmund.
But according to Mirror Football, there is a ‘growing confidence’ at Anfield that Liverpool will win the race for the versatile attacker’s signature, in a summer transfer that would see him reunited with former Black-Yellows boss Jurgen Klopp.
The German gaffer’s presence on Merseyside is certainly a noteworthy pull factor, but Arsenal and Manchester United are more likely to be able to offer Gotze the incentive of Champions League football next season.
