Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all expressed an interest in signing the 27-year-old throughout the season. The northwest rivals were linked during the January transfer window, whilst Spurs scouts watched him in action during a 1-0 defeat to Benfica on Saturday.
But according to The Express, who cite reports from Portuguese publication O Jogo, it’s Everton who appear to be taking the initiative in the race for Slimani’s signature. The Merseysiders saw a £14million offer rejected in January and are reportedly ready to revive their interest by activating the 6 foot 1 striker’s £23million release clause in the coming transfer window.
The report follows a change in ownership at Goodison Park, with investor Farhad Moshiri expected to provide the funds.
