According to reports from The Daily Star, Arsenal have begun talks with representatives of Liverpool and Manchester United strike target Alvaro Morata regarding a potential summer transfer.
The Spain international’s knack for scoring important goals helped fire Juventus to a Serie A title and the Champions League final last term, netting 15 times across all competitions, but he’s struggled to have the same impact this season amid a heated struggle with Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala for places in Massimo Allegri’s starting Xi.

Nonetheless, interest in the 23-year-old remains high. Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United were all linked with Morata during the January transfer window and could revive their interest in the summer. Jurgen Klopp has made it clear he’ll part with £32million frontman Christian Benteke, whilst United have scored the fewest goals of any side in the Premier League’s top seven this season.
But according to The Daily Star, who cite Spanish outlet OK Diario, the Gunners have contacted the 6 foot 2 striker’s representatives to discuss a summer transfer to the Emirates and the north London club are prepared to shell out a club-record £50million fee for his services.
Who Arsenal will actually be paying it to, however, remains to be seen. Former club Real Madrid are reportedly set to exercise a £23million buyback option this summer, but will immediately put Morata on the transfer market to secure a higher fee. It may seem a bizarre scenario, but the Italian and Spanish press made similar claims last month – with Liverpool and Manchester United mooted as the likeliest candidates to acquire Morata from the La Liga giants.
