According to reports from The Metro, Manchester City have launched a £39million transfer bid for Arsenal and Liverpool target Granit Xhaka.

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder – once dubbed ‘young Schweinsteiger’ by former manager Ottmar Hitzfeld for his similar playing style to the German World Cup winner – has been in fine form this season, bagging three goals in 16 Bundesliga appearances whilst averaging 2.4 tackles, 3.1 interceptions and a whopping 82 completed passes per match.

Arsenal and Liverpool are both known admirers of the 23-year-old. Reports of interest from north London stem back to November, whilst Jurgen Klopp is believed to have discussed a potential summer switch to Anfeld with Xhaka’s agent Andy Gross last month.

The Daily Mail have documented the Premier League duo’s interest once again today, whilst quoting the Swiss international as saying; “I think everybody has a dream. Everybody has a childhood dream and [playing in England] is my childhood dream. If my dream comes true, it remains to be seen. At the moment, I cannot say how realistic it is.”

But according to The Metro, who cite reports from German publication Bild, Manchester City have already launched a £39million bid for the 6 foot 1 midfielder. Incoming manager Pep Guardiola has watched Xhaka develop from afar during his three years at Bayern Munich and wants the Etihad outfit to secure his services for the summer.
