According to reports from The Daily Star, Chelsea have accepted a £11.5million bid from Leicester City for striker Loic Remy.

The France international is desperate to source more regular game time ahead of next summer’s European Championship on his home soil, having registered just one Premier League start so far this season, and has resultantly been tipped to leave Stamford Bridge for much of the January transfer window.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Newcastle United are targeting the 29-year-old – who bagged 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances during a previous spell on Tyneside – as a last-minute alternative to priority strike target Saido Berahino.

But according to The Daily Star, the Magpies look set to miss out on Remy now that Chelsea have accepted a £11.5million bid from table-toppers Leicester City – as claimed by journalist Ben Jacobs on Twitter. The Blues were reluctant to let the former Marseille man leave earlier in the transfer window but secured a direct replacement in loan signing Alexandre Pato earlier this week.

The aforementioned sum constitutes a record transfer fee for the King Power Stadium outfit.
