According to reports from The Sun, Manchester United are plotting a record-breaking bid for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez.
The Colombian international moved to the Bernabeu after claiming the Golden Boot with six goals at the 2014 World Cup, including a strike against Uruguay that went on to win the prestigious Puskas award.
But the £63million signing has struggled to live up to expectations in the Spanish capital, managing just seven league starts this season amid a campaign ruptured by injury problems, and The Sun resultantly claim his Bernabeu spell could be coming to an abrupt end.

The Red Devils are reportedly keen to lure the 24-year-old away, but that will likely require a bid that trumps the current Premier League transfer fee – set by United with their summer 2014 swoop for Argentina international Angel Di Maria.
Real Madrid, meanwhile, are targeting three Premier League stars for the summer transfer window – Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero and United’s David De Gea – should they succeed in delaying their twelve-month transfer ban until next season.
