According to reports from The Guardian, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Emmanuel Adebayor is considering contract offers from Watford and Crystal Palace.

The Togo international scored 96 goals in 225 appearances during his Premier League spells with Arsenal, Manchester City and Spurs, but left all three clubs on rather sour terms.

The Lilywhites finally parted company with the 31-year-old in September, cancelling his contract a year before its expiration, but they’re still believed to be paying his £100k per week wages until the end of the season.

According to The Guardian, however, interest from Crystal Palace and Watford could see that agreement come to an end, with the Premier League duo reportedly tabling contract offers for the 6 foot 3 striker.

Hornets strike partnership Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney have bagged 20 goals and seven assists between them in the Premier League this season, but manager Quique Sánchez Flores wants to source proven backup this month.

Meanwhile, despite rising to an impressive seventh place in the Premier League table, Connor Wickham is the only out-and-out striker to find the net for Palace this season – his single goal coming in the form of a penalty against Stoke City in December.

However, Palace’s contract offer to Adebayor is said to be heavily incentivised, whilst including a break clause centred around the club’s disciplinary rules. Watford’s, on the other hand, is described as a ‘basic’ and ‘more lucrative’ proposal.

Given that they haven’t made him a contract offer, I don’t see how it can described in any way – never mind that way…

To directly quote The Guardian, the source for this article; “Emmanuel Adebayor is considering the offer of contracts until the end of the season from Watford and Crystal Palace, as he looks to reignite his career in the Premier League. Quique Sánchez Flores, the Watford manager, has previously refused to rule out a move for him and it is understood that the basic offer on the table from the club is more lucrative than that from Palace.”
