According to reports from The Telegraph, Rafa Benitez’ sacking as Real Madrid manager could see Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United launch £75million bids for Bernabeu star Gareth Bale.

The Wales international has been described as ‘intensely disappointed‘ by Benitez’s departure yesterday afternoon, after the Spaniard was relieved of his duties following a 2-2 draw with Gary Neville’s Valencia side on Monday night.

The ex-Liverpool boss had begun the process of building a team around Bale, utilising him to great effect in a more central role, and was even preparing to sell Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the season to make the 26-year-old Real Madrid’s indisputable star man.

But Benitez’s departure has cast serious doubts over those plans and according to The Telegraph, Bale now wants reassurances over his role in the first-team from managerial replacement Zinedine Zidane. The French World Cup winner has been appointed Bernabeu boss after two years of managing Real Madrid B, but the length of his contract has not been made public.

The British newspaper claim that the situation could reignite interest in Bale from Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, who have continually been mooted as long-term admirers of the former Tottenham winger since his world record £87million move from White Hart Lane in summer 2013.

It’s believed the La Liga giants value the goalscorer winger at around £75million – which should be within the financial reach of all three Premier League clubs. But Bale has enjoyed his time in the Spanish capital and will likely stay put if Zidane proves the Welshman is still an integral figure in the Real Madrid starting Xi.
