Isco

According to reports from London Evening Standard, Chelsea are considering joining Manchester City and Juventus in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco.

The 23-year-old has registered 126 appearances since joining the Bernabeu ranks from Malaga in summer 2013, where he won Europe’s prestigious Golden Boy award under City boss Manuel Pellegrini, and has gone on to claim a Champions League title and a Copa del Rey with the La Liga giants.

But the Spain international has struggled to hold down a regular spot in the starting Xi over Los Blancos’ more coveted names and was an unused substitute during the 2-2 draw with Valencia yesterday evening that has since cost Rafa Benitez his job as Bernabeu boss.

A number of clubs have been linked with the 5 foot 9 playmaker in recent months, not least including Arsenal and Manchester City. But London Evening Standard, who also moot Serie A champions Juventus as potential suitors, claim Chelsea could be about to enter the race for his signature as well.

The news outlet claim that although Real Madrid want to hold onto Isco, he could force a move this month to improve his chances of making it into Vincente Del Bosque’s Euro 2016 squad.
