Out - Mathieu Debuchy

According to Mirror Football, Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy has revealed he’s held talks with Aston Villa boss Remi Garde; whilst The Guardian report that Chelsea skipper John Terry is confident he’ll be handed a new contract.

The France international has found himself stuck behind Hector Bellerin in the pecking order this season, receiving just two starts in the Premier League, and is desperate to secure regular playing time ahead of next summer’s European Championships on his home soil.

A move to Serie A was mooted earlier this month but the 30-year-old’s latest comments suggest he could find new employment in the Premier League after holding talks with Aston Villa manager Remi Garde.

As quoted by Mirror Football, the former Newcastle star said; “I am looking at everything but it is not an option I have ruled out. It could be a great challenge (at Villa). Even if they are currently in trouble, Aston Villa are one of the big English clubs.

“I also had the coach on the phone. The conversation went well. Whatever happens, even if it is to come back here in the summer and leave again, I have to leave this winter. I cannot stay at Arsenal.”

Meanwhile, The Guardian report that Chelsea skipper John Terry is confident that he’ll agree a contract extension at Stamford Bridge before the end of the season. The veteran centre-back has struggled for form this term and now aged 35, it remains to be seen if his current terms will be extended past the summer.

But speaking after netting a stoppage time winner against Everton on Saturday, the former England captain told reporters; “For me, I think when you get to a certain age, a lot of people out there start saying: He’s 35, almost 36, maybe his legs have gone. But I’ve never had ‘legs’. It’s as simple as that.

“I’ve never been quick, all my career. Everyone gets it in their heads that it’s a problem but it’s lazy to suggest that. Physically, for me, I’m probably feeling as good as I’ve ever felt in the last two or three years. I’m still in the right state of mind, I’m still hungry, I want to be here, I want to finish my career here.

“But I’m not even thinking of that right now. Last year it was a couple of months from now before things got sorted out, so the most important thing is getting us out of this [situation] and up that league table. But hopefully that will come. I just have to keep plugging away.”
