According to reports from The Guardian, Chelsea and Liverpool target Alex Teixeira has told Shakhtar Donetsk that he wants to move to the Premier League.

The in-form Brazilian has bagged 26 goals in as many appearances for the Ukrainian outfit this season, including three strikes in the Champions League, and was first linked with a Stamford Bridge switch back in October.

The 25-year-old later confirmed he’d received an offer from the Blues but as talks stalled earlier this month, a Liverpool delegation travelled to Florida – where Shakhtar are playing in the Florida Cup – to launch a rival £23million bid.

The Ukrainian outfit are believed to have rejected the Reds’ bid but according to The Guardian, Teixeira has informed his club that he wants to move to the Premier League before the transfer window closes on February 1st.

As quoted by the British newspaper, he told Brazilian outlet Globo; “I would like to move in this transfer window and have told them [Shakhtar] that. They have received a very good offer and they are working on a solution.

“But if I don’t go now then I will leave in the summer. After six years in Europe and with Shakhtar we are ready to move and I have spoken to my wife and daughter.”

Liverpool are expected to make an improved offer in the coming days, but Shakhtar reportedly value the attacking midfielder at a pricey £38million – which would constitute a new record transfer fee for the Merseysiders.
