Chelsea struggling to seal 26-goal attacker transfer; West Ham to sign striker this week

Alex Teixeira

According to The Daily Star, Chelsea are struggling to get a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Alex Teixeira over the line; whilst The Telegraph report that West Ham could complete a loan deal for striker Emmanuel Emenike this week.

Chelsea have been linked with the in-form Brazilian, who has bagged 26 goals in as many appearances this season, since October and a January move to Stamford Bridge seemed an inevitability – with the attacking midfielder claiming in November that he’d already received a contract offer from the reigning champions.

But according to The Daily Star, the Blues are struggling to complete the deal with the club’s billionaire owner Rinat Akhmetov refusing to sell his star player halfway through the season, likely due to the fact Shakhtar are currently level on points with Dynamo Kyiv at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League.

The British tabloid quote a source ‘close to the negotiations’ as saying; “I know Shakhtar well and they will not let this happen in this window.”

Meanwhile, The Telegraph report that West Ham could complete a deal for Fenerbahce frontman Emmanuel Emenike within the next seven days.

The Nigerian international is a powerful centre-forward who has enjoyed productive spells with Karabukspor, Spartak Moscow, Fenerbahce and most recently Al Ain – netting nine times during a 15-game loan stint with the Middle East outfit during the first half of the season.

As quoted by The Telegraph, co-owner David Sullivan recently told reporters; “There’s a possibility that a striker will come in on loan, with the option to buy, within the next seven days. He’s an overseas striker.”

The 28-year-old’s expected arrival will likely pave the way for Nikita Jelavic to move to China.
