No.10 - Mesut Ozil

According to The Independent, star midfielder Mesut Ozil has dismissed claims that he’s signed a new contract with Arsenal; whilst Mirror Football report that Liverpool are targeting unhappy Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The German international has bagged a whopping 15 assists in 16 Premier League outings this season and reports earlier this month suggested he’d begun talks over a contract extension at the Emirates – with his current deal set to expire in 2018.

But the 27-year-old has now denied that negotiations are underway, insisting that there is ‘no rush’ to agree improved terms. As quoted by The Independent, he told German publication Kicker; “There is no rush to sign a new contract. My current deal runs until 2018. That is still two-and-a-half years. There are no talks at the moment.”

“I can only say that I am very happy in London,” the attacking midfielder continued. “My decision to leave Real Madrid for Arsenal was the right one. There has not been a single day, apart from whenever I was injured, that I did not feel great here.”

Meanwhile, Mirror Football – who cite Spanish publication Marca – claim that Liverpool are targeting ‘unhappy’ Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who appears to have slumped down the pecking order at the Nou Camp after being left out of Luis Enrique’s Club World Cup squad.

The Reds have been linked with the German international before, but the latest reports follow understudy goalkeeper Adam Bogdan’s erroneous performance against Watford last weekend. The Hungary international, who stepped in for injured No.1 Simon Mignolet, dropped a simple ball at a corner to concede Liverpool’s first in a shock 3-0 defeat.
