Alex Teixeira

According to an exclusive from The Express, Shakhtar Donetsk star Alex Teixeira has ‘verbally agreed to sign for Chelsea; whilst Mirror Football report that Mathieu Flamini will leave Arsenal at the end of the season.

In-form Brazilian Teixeira, who boasts 26 goals in 26 appearances for the Ukrainian outfit this season, has persistently talked up Chelsea interest over the last few months, most recently telling reporters; “I’m happy to get a proposal from Chelsea, a big club in Europe, but my agent takes care of it.”

Last week, Shakhtar warned that the 25-year-old’s suitors would have to pay an extra €10million to sign him next summer and that news appears to have sprung the Blues into action, with The Express claiming they’ve now reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with the attacking midfielder to bring him to Stamford Bridge in January. A fee is still yet to be decided, but the newspaper’s £30million valuation is fairly unanimous throughout the media.

Meanwhile, Mirror Football report that Mathieu Flamini is set to leave Arsenal when his contract expires at the end of the season – despite never losing a Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman, who takes home £80k per week, has served seven seasons during two separate stints with the Gunners but is unlikely to be offered extended terms at the age of 31. Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta could follow Flamini out of north London on Bosman departures, which would force Arsene Wenger to invest heavily in Arsenal’s midfield next summer.
