According to Sky Sports, Arsene Wenger has predicted a ‘busy’ transfer window at Arsenal; whilst The Daily Mail report that Manchester United are prepared to let Sam Johnstone go out on loan in January.

Speaking in today’s press conference ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Saturday, the Frenchman explained that he expects to be kept busy during the January transfer window as he looks to find cover for the likes of Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin and Danny Welbeck – all of whom are sidelined through injury for the next few months.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Wenger said; “I’ll be busy, that’s for sure. I’m already busy and I said already one month ago we are a bit short to deal with all the competitions we face, especially in midfield. We will be busy, yes.”

However, he failed to confirm whether the north Londoners are on the verge of signing FC Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, telling reporters; “Unfortunately, we cannot announce anything at the moment about this player because nothing has been concluded.”

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail report that goalkeeper Sam Johnstone will be allowed to leave Manchester United on loan in January. The club are prepared to sanction a 28-day loan for the 22-year-old, with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bristol City, Reading, Huddersfield, Queens Park Rangers and former club Preston North End all interested.

Johnstone made 22 league appearances on loan at Deepdale last season and has represented England 32 times at youth level.
