According to reports from Mirror Football, Bayern Munich will offer Pep Guardiola an incredible £17million-per-year salary to reject interest from the Premier League.

The former Barcelona boss is on course to claim a third consecutive league title since taking the Allianz Arena hot seat in summer 2013, with his Bayern side currently five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table.

But he’s yet to recreate the success of predecessor Jupp Heynckes, who lead the Bavarians to a Champions League title the season prior to Guardiola’s arrival, and the Spaniard’s continued reluctance to sign a new contract has allowed speculation over his future to grow.

Last month, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United were all linked with the former midfielder, whose current terms with Bayern expire at the end of the season, whilst Mirror Football report that he’s been earmarked by Arsenal as Arsene Wenger’s long-awaited successor.

The German giants, however, intend to fend off Premier League interest by offering Guardiola a two-year contract extension with a £17million salary. That would reinforce the 44-year-old’s status as the best-paid manager in world football, eclipsing Jose Mourinho, the Premier League’s best-paid on £12million per year, by quite some distance.

Bayern are growing increasingly optimistic that Guardiola will decide to stay on in Bavaria and chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is hoping to open contract talks at the start of the Bundesliga’s winter break.
