Moussa Dembele

According to reports from The Express, Manchester United have ‘declared their interest’ in Fulham strike prodigy Moussa Dembele.

Much was expected of the namesake to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Dembele when he arrived at Craven Cottage from PSG’s academy in summer 2012 and although he struggled to impact during his first three seasons, failing to find the net in his first 18 appearances, the 19-year-old is beginning to deliver on his heralded potential.

Indeed, the 6-foot frontman scored against MK Dons on Saturday to bring his campaign total to eight goals and two assists in 17 Championship outings, including consecutive braces against Reading and Bristol City in October.

That saw the France U20 linked with Everton and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, prompting him to admit that he’s flattered by reported Premier League interest ahead of the January transfer window.

He told reporters; “Every week the media is sending me to different clubs. It is funny and flattering but on a serious note I am focusing on Fulham and promotion to thePremier League. All the other things do not affect me that much. I don’t deceive. I give 100 per cent every time I wear the shirt. For the rest, my agents are dealing with it.”

But according to today’s report from The Express, who cite Get French Football News, Spurs and Everton could soon find themselves eclipsed in the race to sign Dembele by Premier League rivals Manchester United.

The Red Devils are certainly short on firepower, with strikers Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial finding just five Premier League goals combined this season, and it’s claimed they’ve now made contact with Fulham over a January deal for their highly-rated centre-forward.

As Dembele’s current contract expires at the end of the season, there is every chance the west Londoners will sell if approached with a decent offer in the coming transfer window – although they’re optimistic of agreeing extended terms with the teenager.
