According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon, scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United have been running the rule over Benfica wonderkid Goncalo Guedes.
The 18 year-old has made just 17 senior appearances since his debut for the Portuguese outfit in October 2014 but has already earned comparisons with countryman and three-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
The teenager winger has scored twice in eight Primeira Liga outings this term whilst also finding the net against Atletico Madrd in the Champions League back in September.
According to The Daily Star, scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United watched Guedes in Champions League action earlier this week – starting in a 2-1 win over Galatasaray that has cemented Benfica’s position at the top of Group C.
But European champions Barcelona are also known admirers of the Portugal U21, who has represented his country on 14 occasions at youth level, scoring four goals, whilst Guedes’ price-tag remains another potential stumbling block.
Benfica are unlikely to sell any time soon, with the winger prodigy’s contract not set to expire until 2021, meaning potential suitors will have to activate his £40million release clause.
