According to reports from Calcio Mercato, Arsenal and Manchester United face fresh competition in the race to sign Benfica winger Goncalo Guedes.
The 18 year-old has made just 23 senior appearances since his debut for the Portuguese outfit in October 2014 but has already earned comparisons with countryman and three-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
The teenager winger has scored three times in nine Primeira Liga outings this term, whilst also finding the net against Atletico Madrd in September to become the youngest ever Portuguese goalscorer Champions League history.
Last week, it was revealed that scouts from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United had all run the rule over the Portugal U21 during Aguias’ 2-1 Champions League win against Galatasaray.
But according to Calcio Mercato, the Premier League trio now face a new competitor in the race for the £40million-rated prodigy – Serie A side AC Milan.
The San Siro outfit may lack the financial firepower and allure of Arsenal, City and United but they do have a unique advantage; former AC Milan star Rui Costa, who won a Serie A title, a Champions League title and a Coppa Italia during his five seasons with Rossoneri, is currently serving as Benfica’s Sporting Director.
