According to reports from The Daily Star, Real Madrid are plotting a sensational swoop for Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and star player Eden Hazard.

Mourinho’s status as Stamford Bridge boss was already shrouded in serious doubt before the weekend and the odds of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich sacking him have been slashed since the Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Liverpool, their sixth defeat in eleven Premier League games, earlier today.

Hazard, meanwhile, has been heavily linked with a sensational move to Real Madrid over the last few weeks, after liking an instagram post mooting him as a transfer target of the La Liga giants.

And according to The Daily Star, former club president Ramon Calderon, who reigned at the Bernabeu from 2006 to 2009, has claimed there is genuine interest in both Mourinho and Hazard from the Spanish capital outfit.

He told French outlet beIN Sport; “If Mourinho is not at Chelsea anymore, I think Florentino Perez would be willing to bring him back to Real Madrid. If things do not work out for Benitez and they do not work out for Mourinho at Chelsea then I think Perez will look to bring him back.”

The Portuguese previously served as Los Blancos boss for three seasons, winning the Copa del Rey in 2011 and the La Liga title a year later.

“They are also looking at Hazard and, as far as I know, he has not said no,” Calderon added. “We will wait and see.”

It’s claimed any potential suitor would have to bid in excess of £70million to convince Chelsea to sell Hazard, although Real Madrid would not need to pay a compensation fee for Mourinho if he’s sacked by the west London club.
