According to reports from The Telegraph yesterday evening, Belgium national team coach Marc Wilmots would welcome a Real Madrid move for struggling Chelsea star Eden Hazard.

The 24 year-old’s talismanc displays last term earned him the PFA and FWA Player of the Year awards for 2015, but he’s yet to rekindle that level of form this season and is still waiting upon his first Premier League goal.

Hazard’s struggles are undoubtedly interlinked with Chelsea’s, who have endured their worst start to a season in 37 years and already lost one more league fixture than in 2014/15. They’re now ten points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Manager Jose Mourinho surprisingly dropped the Belgium international for the Blues’ Premier League clash with Aston Villa last weekend, a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge, leading to rumours of friction between the two and earlier this week shock reports of a move to Real Madrid.

Citing French publication L’Equipe, The Independent reveal that the story rather dubiously stems from Hazard ‘liking’ an Instagram post linking him with the Bernabeu outfit.

Regardless of the report’s legitimacy, The Telegraph claim Belgium coach Marc Wilmots would back his 62-cap international if he chose to join the La Liga giants. Privately, he is concerned about the workload placed on Hazard at Chelsea – due to the intensity of the Premier League and Mourinho’s defensive tactics – and fears the winger could suffer burnout by the time the European Championships kick off next summer.
