Sadio Mane

According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday morning, Manchester United could revive their pursuit of Southampton star Sadio Mane in January following his heroic performance against Chelsea last weekend.

The Senegal international was unexpectedly linked with an Old Trafford switch during the summer after the Red Devils missed out on Barcelona winger Pedro, following a debut Premier League campaign in which he netted ten times in 30 appearances.

The 23 year-old has been in good form again this season, grabbing two goals and four assists in seven starts, and particularly impressed against Chelsea last Saturday – scoring one and setting up another.

According to The Daily Star, who cite reports from Manchester Evening News, that performance could see United revive their interest in Mane following a failed summer bid worth around £15million with a fresh offer in January.

Manager Ronald Koeman has recently admitted Southampton will struggle to hold onto the former Red Bull Salzburg man if his impressive form continues.

The St. Mary’s boss said earlier this month; “Maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared. You know in our situation that kind of player, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season, but now we enjoy watching Mane in our team.”
