According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both targeting Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The 21 year-old is yet to make a competitive outing for the Black Cats but has impressed whilst out on loan, registering 92 appearances throughout spells with Darlington, Alfreton Town, Burton Albion, Carlisle United, Bradford City and Preston North End. He’s currently on a season-long loan at Deepdale.
The 6 foot 2 shot-stopper is also highly-rated within the England set-up, picking up 38 caps across the youth levels ranging from the U16s to U21s.
The Star revealed United’s interest in Pickford earlier this week, amid news that the Red Devils are attempting to negotiate the mutual termination of Victor Valdes’ contract, but now claim Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on the Washington-born goalkeeper.
The British tabloid claim fresh appointment Sam Allardyce is aware of widespread interest in Pickford and ‘will have to address the goalkeeping situation he’s inherited’.
Valdes, meanwhile, was linked with a move to Newcastle United this morning.
