According to reports from The Liverpool Echo this morning, Liverpool are confident of confirming Jurgen Klopp as their next manager by the end of the week.

Brendan Rodgers was sacked as Anfield boss on Sunday afternoon after the Merseyside derby – although his departure is believed to be irrespective of the 1-1 draw with Everton and decided some time ago.

On Monday, the Northern Irishman revealed he was ‘incredibly disappointed‘ to leave the club in an official statement, whilst the Liverpool hierarchy began talks with his likely successor – Jurgen Klopp.

The 6 foot 4 German is famed for his larger-than-life personality and miraculous transformation of Borussia Dortmund, taking them from mid-table mediocrity and the cusp of financial ruin to consecutive Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League final. He left Westfalenstadion at the end of last season after the Black-Yellows finished in seventh place.

The Liverpool Echo claim the club hope to confirm Klopp as their new manager by the end of the week, signing him on a three-year contract. The 48 year-old is expected to bring in Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz, trusted associates from his Dortmund spell, as the Reds’ new backroom staff.
