According to reports from Mirror Football yesterday evening, Liverpool have agreed a deal in principle with their next manager, Jurgen Klopp, and hope to unveil him on Friday.

Predecessor Brendan Rodgers was sacked as Anfield boss on Sunday afternoon after the Merseyside derby, although his departure is believed to be irrespective of the 1-1 draw with Everton and decided some time ago.

On Monday, the Northern Irishman revealed he was ‘incredibly disappointed‘ to leave the club in an official statement, whilst the Liverpool hierarchy began talks with their preferred successor – Jurgen Klopp.

The German is best famed for his transformation of Borussia Dortmund, taking them from mid-table mediocrity to consecutive Bundesliga titles and the 2013 Champions League title.

And according to Mirror Football, the Reds have already ‘agreed a deal in principle’ with the 48 year-old – a three year contract with the option of a further year – which they hope to officially announce on Friday.

Interestingly, the British newspaper also claim Klopp has agreed to work within the club’s current structure – in other words, alongside the much-maligned transfer committee – and that he doesn’t feel the need to add many new faces in the January transfer window.
