Cristiano Ronaldo

According to reports from Sky Sports this afternoon, La Liga correspondent Guillem Balage believes Manchester United target Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to leave Real Madrid within the next two years.

The former Red Devil left Old Trafford for the Spanish capital in 2009 and has since affirmed his status as one of the top talents in the history of the sport; winning three Ballon d’Ors, the 2014 Champions League title and amassing a rather incredible 323 goals in 309 appearances for Los Blancos.

But reports in September claimed the Portugal international could leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season, leading to rumours that ex-employers Manchester United are preparing a world-record £92.5million bid to re-sign him next summer.

Sky Sports’ La Liga correspondent Guillem Balague certainly believes it’s a plausible scenario, although suggesting a move to French champions PSG is more likely.

He told Sky Sports News earlier today; “He can physically play until he is 40, but there is a strategy in place from his people. It looks like this could be the last season of Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. It also looks as though Real Madrid aren’t completely unhappy that this is the case.”

“This sounds amazing, when you look at the records he’s gained – probably the best goalscorer in their history,” he added.

“But perhaps Real Madrid believe he has peaked and I’ve got the impression these people are feeling PSG will be the best solution. Be it this summer or next summer, I don’t think he will be at Real Madrid that long.”

Balague’s view does contract recent comments from the man himself, however. Ronaldo said earlier this week; “My dream is to retire at Real Madrid. If you take care of yourself you can play until you are 40. I want to keep going for another five or six years. I feel good and useful in Madrid and I want to win here.”
