According to reports from Goal.com yesterday morning, in-demand forward Ezequiel Lavezzi has revealed he’s likely to leave PSG upon the expiration of his contract next summer.
The Argentina international, who made six appearances for the tournament finalists at last summer’s World Cup, has claimed 33 goals in 139 appearances since joining the Parisians from Napoli in 2012, helping fire them to three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.
Last term he netted the goal that secured PSG the French crown – the deciding strike in a 2-1 win over Montpellier in May.
But 30 year-old’s role in the starting Xi has gradually declined throughout Laurent Blanc’s two terms as manager, last season managing just 19 league starts.
That saw him linked to a variety of Premier League clubs throughout the summer, including top four battlers Liverpool and Tottenham as well as title hopefuls Arsenal and Manchester United.
A summer move failed to materialise but with his contract now into its final twelve months, Lavezzi has now hinted that it’s time to move on.
He told French publication Telefoot; “The truth is I want to stay because I have a lot of faith in the team. This year we brought in players that really reinforced the team. I’m very happy for new signing Angel Di Maria, it’s always good to play with your friends. He is a great player, I hope he adapts quickly.
“I think it’s my last year in Paris,” he added. “But I’m okay and I want to finish it the best way possible. You never know what can happen. Today I want to stay, tomorrow we’ll see.”
