According to reports from The Express this afternoon, PSG striker Edinson Cavani has ‘opened up’ on all matters transfers following summer interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Uruguay international has often been linked with a move away from Parc de Princes due to his apparent disillusionment at playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Indeed, despite costing the Ligue 1 champions a whopping £55million in summer 2013, after netting an incredible 104 goals in 138 appearances for former club Napoli, the 28 year-old has spent the majority of his PSG playing out wide to accommodate the enigmatic Swede as a lone centre-forward.

Not that it’s hampered his goal tally too much; Cavani boasts a return of 64 goals in 106 appearances for the French outfit, including 31 goals in all competitions last season.

During the summer, he was continuously linked with the Premier League’s top clubs. The Express claim Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all considered signing the 6 foot striker during the transfer window but eventually pursued alternative targets, Karim Benzema, Radamel Falcao and Anthony Martial respectively, instead.

And as quoted by the British newspaper, Cavani has revealed PSG’s desire to not to sell was the deciding factor in him staying put in the French capital.

He said; “In football, there are a lot of things that depend not on the footballer but on the club. Often when a player decides to change club it’s not solely his choice. It’s a decision made in agreement with the club, which seeks the best solution for both parties.

“PSG have always shown me their desire to keep me, to make me a player for the future of the club. That’s important for me. It gives me a lot of energy to work. For three years, people have talked far too much about things that didn’t exist. My desire was always to stay and to reach the goals set by the club. At the moment I feel very good in Paris.”
