Demarai Gray

According to reports from The Birmingham Mail last Saturday, Bayern Munich are the latest club to run the rule over Birmingham City youngster Demarai Gray.

The speedy winger is widely regarded as the most exciting prospect in the Championship, having already registered 53 league appearances and seven goals for the St. Andrews’ outfit at just 19 years of age – including five starts this season.

He’s averaged an impressive 2 shots, 1.2 dribbles and 1.2 chances created per match this term, but is yet to get off the mark in terms of goals or assists.

Liverpool and Manchester City are both known long-term admirers of the England U20, whilst Premier League new boys Bournemouth saw a £5million bid rejected in January – paving the way for a new three-year contract in July.

According to The Birmingham Mail, however, Gray’s Premier League suitors now face sizable competition in the form of former European champions Bayern Munich.

Scouts from Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and the German giants all watched the winger in action last week, as a talismanic display helped ensure the Junior Lions a 1-0 win over Czech Republic on Wednesday evening.

It’s believed the Brummie attacker’s latest contract includes a rather reasonable £4.7million release clause; but he’s unlikely to pursue an exit from the club without the guarantee of first team football.
