Emmanuel Adebayor

According to reports from The Guardian this morning, striker Emmanuel Adebayor has not been registered in Tottenham Hotspur’s 25-man squads for the Premier League and the Europa League.

The Togo international, who boasts 41 goals in 106 appearances for the north London outfit and 96 in 225 throughout his Premier League career, has been excluded from first-team affairs since the start of pre-season and was expected to leave the club during the summer – with his No.10 jersey going to last season’s top scorer Harry Kane.

Aston Villa and West Ham were both interested in acquiring his services during the transfer window but the 31 year-old refused to give up his £100k per-week contract a year before it’s expiration.

He allegedly rejected a move to Villa Park in July based on advice from his pastor, according to The Telegraph, and demanded the remainder of his salary – a £5million sum – be paid in full before joining the Hammers on deadline day, which Spurs unsurprisingly refused.

As reported by The Guardian, the Lilywhites have now decided to exclude Adebayor from their 25-man registered Premier League and Europa League squads, handed to the FA and UEFA respectively earlier today, meaning he’s only allowed to feature in the Capital One Cup until January – although that is incredibly unlikely.

The Guardian speculate Spurs could still attempt to offload the 6 foot 3 striker to Qatar. Their transfer window doesn’t close until September 30th.
