Mateo Kovacic

According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Inter Milan prodigy Mateo Kovacic has dismissed reports linking him with a move to the Premier League this summer.

The 21 year-old has just come to the end of an impressive season at the San Siro, bagging five goals and three assists in 35 Serie A appearances, and is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in the division.

The midfielder’s formidable rise since joining Inter from Dynamo Zagreb in January 2013 has caught the attention of several top European clubs.

Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool have all recently been linked to the Croatian international, with the Anfield outfit allegedly viewing him as a potential replacement for Steven Gerrard, whilst reports last month claimed Champions League finalists Juventus were attempting to thrash out a £21million deal.

Kovacic, however, has insisted he’s not interested in leaving the San Siro this summer, whilst claiming Inter is as prestigious a club as Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“The club have never said they want to sell me,” Kovacic told Gazzetta dello Sport. “Never. I’ll stay here. I won’t move. That’s what I wanted, that’s what my renewal until 2019 shows, there will be a long relationship between myself and Inter.

“I want to show that I deserve Inter. I want to win with this shirt. Inter is like Real [Madrid] or Barcelona,” he added.
