According to reports from The Express yesterday afternoon, Liverpool officials have arrived in Spain to secure a loan deal for Barcelona prodigy Adama Traore.

The 19 year-old winger is widely viewed as one of La Masia’s most exciting products in recent years and has already made significant headway with the first team, finding one goal in two Copa del Rey outings last season.

He also boasts eight goals in 63 appearances for the club’s second string, Barcelona B. But they were relegated to the Spanish third tier at the end of last term, which has seen a number of the Nou Camp’s brightest prospects linked with loan moves across Europe this summer.

Everton, Sevilla and West Ham, for example, have all been mooted as potential loan destinations for highly-rated Croatian international Alen Halilovic. Likewise, the Toffees launched an enquiry into Traore’s availability at the end of June, according to talkSPORT.

But The Express claim Liverpool have hijacked their Mersey rivals’ pursuit of the Spain U19 international, with Reds officials arriving in Barcelona yesterday to thrash out a loan deal. Brendan Rodgers feels he can offer Traore more than enough game-time, following the £44million departure of fellow winger Raheem Sterling.
