Carlos Tevez

According to reports from The Daily Star, Carlos Tevez is set to snub Premier League suitors Liverpool in favour of returning to former club Boca Juniors.

The Argentina international boasts a potent return of 50 goals in 95 appearances from his two campaigns with the Old Lady, firing them to consecutive Serie A titles and this season’s Champions League final.

But with one year remaining on his contract and the Turin outfit linked to a variety of potential replacements – not least including Manchester United target Edinson Cavani – the 31 year-old is widely expected to leave the Italian giants within the next few weeks.

As This Is Futbol revealed in May, Liverpool have emerged as potential suitors of the former Red Devils, Manchester City and West Ham forward, who claimed two league titles and the 2008 Champions League title during his prior spell in the Premier League, and recent reports claim Juve are prepared to sell for around £15million.

But former Juventus star Pavel Nedved, now a member of the club’s board, has dismissed the notion of a return to England for the tenacious striker, claiming his heart is set on joining boyhood club Boca Juniors.

“I think Tevez wants to go home. This year he has given so much, but he appears to have made his decision now,” he recently told gianlucadimarzio.com.

“He gave a great deal in these seasons for Juve and this year practically never held back,” the 2003 European Footballer of the Year added.
