According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday afternoon,  Arsene Wenger has adamantly denied speculation claiming midfielder Jack Wilshere will be sold to Manchester City this summer.

The Etihad outfit are in desperate need of young home-grown talent to readdress the balance of their largely foreign, ageing squad, and view the England international as a potential solution.

Despite often being heralded as a future star of the world stage, Wilshere hasn’t reached the heights many expected by the age of 23, instead spending much of his Gunners career sidelined through injury.

With Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Francis Coquelin excelling in his absence this season, it’s been speculated the north Londoners might be willing to cash in on the midfielder this summer, despite three years remaining on his Emirates contract, with the tabloids mooting a fee of £25million.

But in the build-up to Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Hull this evening, Wenger has denied such claims, telling reporters; “Jack is an Arsenal player and the success of this club in future years will depend on how well the young players educated here do. He is very much a part of that future.

“Every day he is getting stronger. He’s getting back to the right level and this week was the first where he has looked sharp again,” Wenger added.
