Radamel Falcao

According to reports from The Express this morning, AS Monaco are prepared to slash their valuation of striker Radamel Falcao, currently on loan at Manchester United, to get him off their books this summer.

The French big-spenders splashed out an incredible £55million on the Colombian international in summer 2013 after netting 70 goals in 91 appearances and winning a Europa League title and Copa del Rey with Atletico Madrid.

But Falcao has gone on to score just 13 times for the Ligue 1 outfit, this season joining Manchester United on loan – where he has since claimed only four goals in 28 appearances across all competitions.

United currently have the option to acquire the 29 year-old permanently for £43million. But increasingly unlikely to activate it this summer, Monaco have reportedly dropped their asking price to just £20million – less than half.

That in turn has triggered interest from long-term suitors Chelsea and Liverpool, according to The Express. Liverpool are expected to reshuffle their strike-force this summer following a campaign in which Mario Balotelli, Fabio Borini, Rickie Lambert and Daniel Sturridge have scored just eight Premier League goals between them, whilst Chelsea could lose Didier Drogba, who is reluctant to hang up his boots.

A move to Real Madrid, however, which almost came into fruition on summer deadline day, cannot be ruled out.
