According to reports from The Metro yesterday afternoon, Liverpool are considering a double swoop for Monaco stars Aymen Abdennour and Geoffrey Kondogbia this summer.

Despite Brendan Rodgers spending around £210million on transfers since his Anfield arrival three summers ago, the Reds’ current centre-back options – Dejan Lovren, Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure – still leave a lot to be desired.

Abdennour, aged 25, has impressed with Toulouse and Monaco in the French top flight and is seen as potential solution. The Metro rate him at around the £22million mark.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are also targeting the prodigious Geoffrey Kondogbia to sure up their midfield. The 22 year-old has been a huge success since moving to Stade Louis II in summer 2013, this season averaging 3.2 tackles and 2.6 interceptions per match in Ligue 1.

He’s valued at £25million – but there’s expected to be strong competition for his signature this summer. As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month, he’s also on the radars of Arsenal and Chelsea.
