According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Wolfsburg Sporting Director Klaus Allofs has claimed the club ‘wouldn’t even flinch’ at a £35million bid for star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgium international struggled to make the first team grade during his two years at Chelsea, instead finding himself out on loan with Genk and Werder Bremen.

But since moving to the Volkswagen Arena for an £18million fee in January 2014, the 23 year-old has emerged as one of the most formidable attacking forces in the Bundesliga. This season he’s claimed the most assists, 20, of any player throughout Europe’s five leading top flights – alongside ten league goals.

Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly keen to bring him back to the English top flight. As This Is Futbol revealed last week, the Citizens were believed to be ‘closing in’ on a £35million deal for the attacking midfielder.

But Die Wolfe director Klaus Allofs has now refuted such claims. “[£35m] seriously? We wouldn’t even flinch at an amount like that,” he recently told the German media.

With his contract not set to expire until 2019, De Bruyne’s suitors will have to come up with a significantly better offer to sign him this summer.
