Chelsea face Man City in race for £20m Terry successor

|

Centre-Back - John Stones

According to reports from The Daily Mail yesterday afternoon, Chelsea and Manchester City are both considering summer bids for Everton defender John Stones.

The 20 year-old’s scintillating performances towards the end of last season – particularly, his jinking runs into midfield – almost earned him a call-up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the 2014 World Cup.

And the Three Lions youngster has continued to impress this year. In the centre-back’s presence, the Toffees have claimed seven clean sheets in 23 Premier League fixtures this term, compared to a miserly three in their 15 league outings without him.

That prominent form has triggered interest from the Premier League’s top clubs, with Manchester City keen to inject youthful home-grown talent into their ageing squad this summer and Chelsea searching for a long-term successor to 34 year-old captain John Terry.

Having signed a five-year contract in August 2014, however, The Daily Mail believe it will take a figure in excess of £20million to convince Everton to sell this summer.

if Raphael Varane is not available this summer chelsea must bounce back on other options like Jone Stones because he is strong as Terry in defensive area, buy and develope him through tactics.
