Throughout their long and prestigious history, Manchester United have always boasted one of the best academies in English football, to such an extent there’s even a smash-hit film made in its honour; documenting the progress of the now-fabled ‘Class of ’92’ – with members including David Beckham, the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs.

The Red Devils have also proved particularly proficient in sourcing young talents from other clubs before nurturing them into world stars – take three-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo, for example.

Unfortunately, however, not every budding youngster to pass through the Old Trafford doors has been quite so successful. You can’t make an omelette without braking a few eggs – and Sir Alex Ferguson smashed hundreds whilst deconstructing and rebuilding his many title-winning United sides.

Whilst some prodigies went on to great things, others went on to very little. And in honour of those who failed to make the grade, This Is Futbol have listed the FIVE Manchester United prodigies who flopped the most spectacularly – throwing in the added bonus of an update on where they are now.
