Jose Mauri

According to reports from The Metro this morning, Premier League outfits Chelsea and Manchester United are both targeting Parma prodigy Jose Mauri – widely viewed as one of the most promising talents in Serie A.

Despite Parma finding themselves at the foot of the Italian table – thirteen points from safety with just eight games remaining – the 18 year-old midfielder has been in strong form this season, bagging two goals from 25 appearances whilst averaging 2.1 tackles per match.

The Stadio Ennio Tardini outfit are also amid financial ruin, having failed to pay players’ wages over the last few months and also terminated several contracts – including Jonathan Biabiany’s, as This Is Futbol reported on Saturday.

That suggests they’ll be willing to part with Mauri – an Italy U17 international who hopes to represent Argentina at senior level – this summer in order to raise funds.

In addition to Chelsea and Manchester United, however, The Metro also moot Juventus and Bayern Munich as potential suitors.
