Juan Mata’s sensational brace against Liverpool three weekends ago secured Manchester United arguably the most important result of their season – but that’s not stopped Tottenham trying to lure the Spain international away from Old Trafford, as reported by The Metro.
They quote Spanish sources in claiming the Lilywhites will offer £18.3million for the 26 year-old this summer, around half of the £35.5million figure that saw him join the Red Devils from Chelsea in January 2014.
Mata has struggled for a regular role since his once record-breaking move up north, but it seems unlikely United will sell him this summer – especially for such a miserly fee.
After all, no Premier League midfielder has recorded more goals and assists combined than the former two-time Chelsea Player of the Year winner since his move to England from Valencia in 2011, a whopping 62. And although he’s not starting every week, he’s an incredible talent to have in the squad – this term, making himself United’s third-top scorer and joint-second creator with seven goals and four assists in 20 starts.
Watching Juan Mata operate in the same midfield as Tottenham’s talismanic No.10 Christian Eriksen, however, is a mouth-watering prospect.
Spurs can dream, Mata is and will stay UNITED.
IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN !
The metro make up more stories than the the Star!!!
Levy makes me laugh. What figure would they want if they were selling? We wont sell after recent performances .LVG has now seen what he can do whilst playing with Herrera.
