Patrick Roberts

As reported by ESPN this afternoon, highly-rated Fulham youngster Patrick Roberts is set to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage.

The teenage winger impressed in his two Premier League appearances last season as the west London outfit plummeted out of the top flight. And although he’s been used somewhat sparingly this term – making just two starts and 18 appearances from the bench – he’s continued to show great promise in a cameo role.

Roberts also boasts a prominent return for England across the junior levels, amassing 13 goals in 29 appearances from the U16 to U19 age groups, and was named in the Team of the Tournament for the U17 European Championships in 2014.

That progress has attracted plenty of interest from the English top flight, with ESPN listing Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham all as potential suitors for the 18 year-old.

Manager Kit Symons has now revealed, however, that Roberts will be offered an extended contract in the near future, with his current deal set to expire at the end of next season.

“Pat will be offered a new contract. We will look to tie up our best young players. He is a fantastic prospect,” said the Fulham boss.
