Not Sterling or Henderson: Man City plotting summer bid for Liverpool star

Coutinho

According to reports from Manchester Evening News this morning, Manchester City are plotting a £35million summer bid for Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho.

As This Is Futbol informed you earlier this week, the Citizens have also been linked with contractually rebellious England duo Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson as the Premier League champions attempt to improve their home-grown quota.

But after his winner in yesterday evening’s FA Cup quarter-final replay against Blackburn, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have switched their attentions to the Brazil international – who has also scored two Anfield winners against them in the last two seasons.

The 22 year-old moved to Merseyside from Inter Milan in January 2013 for just £7.5million. But after extending his Anfield contract until 2020 in February, MEN claim City are willing to make a £35million offer to prize Coutinho away this summer, whilst also doubling his £70k per-week wages.

In the same week of reports claiming Sterling and Henderson could leave Liverpool, Reds fans will certainly be disappointed to hear yet another one of their club’s young stars is being linked with a move away.
