Yacine Brahimi

According to reports from The Express this morning, Arsenal are on the verge of agreeing a £33million deal to prize Yacine Brahimi from the clutches of Manchester United.

The Porto midfielder has shown incredible form during this season’s Champions League tournament, claiming five goals and three assists in seven appearances whilst averaging 4.9 successful dribbles per match – a statistic only bested by Brazil international Hulk, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and, unsurprisingly, Lionel Messi.

The Algerian international has been on Man United’s radar for some time according to The Express, who also moot Manchester City, Tottenham, AC Milan and PSG as potential suitors.

But the Gunners are now prepared to activate Brahimi’s £33million release clause to land him this summer.

Whether that spells the end of the road for a current Arsenal midfielder such as England international Theo Walcott, who was linked with a move to Liverpool last week by The Daily Mail, remains to be seen.
