According to reports from The Metro, Liverpool are set to sign Ukrainian international Yevhen Konoplyanka on a free transfer this summer when his FC Dnipro contract expires.
The 25 year-old is widely regarded as one of the biggest talents outside of Europe’s leading top flights, and is perhaps best known to Premier League fans for his stunning strike against England at Wembley back in September 2012.
The winger boasts 43 goals in 196 appearances for the Ukrainian outfit, including four from eight appearances in last season’s Europa League tournament, but is better famed for his creativity, as a playmaking wideman who can cut inside or get to the byline.
The news will be of disappointment to Tottenham fans, however. Spurs have been strongly linked to Konoplyanka over the last few years and even launched a £5million bid for him on January deadline day – as reported by Mirror Football.
Fortunately, however, there’s a number of other wingers on the club’s radar. As This Is Futbol revealed last week, they’re targeting bosman-bound duo Andre Ayew and Ibrahim Afellay, of Marseille and Barcelona respectively.
