As This Is Futbol informed you on Saturday, Tottenham are sizing up a contract offer for Barcelona’s bosman-bound misfit Ibrahim Afellay. The winger was once regarded as amongst the best attacking prospects in Europe, but a horrific string of injures has seen him make just 35 appearances for the Catalan giants since January 2011.

And reports from ESPN now claim there’s yet another winger the Lilywhites are keen to snap up on a free transfer this summer – Marseille man Andre Ayew.

The 25 year-old has proved himself to be one of the most productive forwards in Ligue 1 since his breakthrough 2010/11 campaign, going on to amass 57 goals in 187 appearances for L’OM, whilst also representing Ghana at the last two World Cups.

A particularly direct winger, also famed for his positional versatility, Ayew has often been mooted as a good fit for the Premier League.

With his Stade Velodrome contract now into its final few months, a summer move to White Hart Lane is a distinct possibility. In order to sign the former BBC African Footballer of the Year however (for 2011), Spurs will have to stave off interest from Everton and Newcastle – as claimed by The Metro.
