According to reports from The Metro yesterday morning, Liverpool are plotting a £65million triple-swoop for Aston Villa star Christian Benteke, West Ham loanee Alex Song and Manchester United target Memphis Depay.

Benteke has been in stunning form since Tim Sherwood took the Villa Park helm from Paul Lambert in February, going on to claim nine goals, two assists, five Man of the Match awards (via Whoscored.com) and one hat-trick in his last eleven appearances – including Villa’s opener in their recent FA Cup semi-final victory over the Reds. He’s reportedly valued at £30million.

Meanwhile, Alex Song will almost certainly be sold by Barcelona this year despite an impressive season at West Ham but is unlikely to sign a permanent deal at Upton Park.

The £10million-rated former Arsenal enforcer revealed last week; “I can’t say anything now because I want to focus on the rest of the season and then we will see.The problem with West Ham is that we don’t have a very big squad. I was saying to people it was too early to say that we will finish fourth or fifth. I think we have to target an eighth-placed finish this season,” as reported by talkSPORT.

But the jewel in the transfer crown is undoubtedly Memphis Depay. The 21 year-old’s 26 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions this term have fired him to the top of the Eredivisie scoring charts and PSV to their first league title since 2008.

The Eindhoven outfit appear happy to sell the prodigious winger-forward at £25million – but as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month, Manchester United are currently believed to be leading the race for his signature.
