According to reports from The Express this morning, Aston Villa are attempting to ward off alleged suitors Liverpool and Manchester United by demanding £30million for key striker Christian Benteke.

The Belgium international has been in sensational form since Tim Sherwood took the Villa Park reins from Paul Lambert in February, going on to claim ten goals in his last ten appearances – including Villa’s opener in their 2-1 FA Cup semi-final victory over the Reds two weekends ago – bringing his total for the club to 46 goals in 95 appearances.

The Villians gaffer has already admitted the 24 year-old will likely be sold this summer if he forces a move away from Birmingham – as This Is Futbol revealed earlier this month – leading to links with Liverpool and Man United, who are both expected to reshuffle their strike forces in the coming transfer window.

Benteke’s agent, Eris Krismet, told reporters earlier this week; “at the moment, there is no interest,” but that hasn’t stopped the Villians slapping their star centre-forward with a £30million price-tag.

An internal Premier League move isn’t the only possibility for Benteke. Earlier this month, Mirror Football mooted AC Milan and Wolfsburg as potential buyers of the 6 foot 3 striker.
