Depay

As reported by Manchester Evening News earlier today, PSV manager Phillip Cocu has confirmed Premier League-linked winger Memphis Depay will leave the Dutch side this summer.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United are believed to be planning end-of-season bids for the 21 year-old, who has bagged 23 goals in 34 appearances – including 17 in the Eredivisie – since his impressive World Cup campaign with Oranje last summer, where he was shortlisted for the tournament’s Best Young Player award.

He extended his PSV contract until 2018 at the start of the season, but Cocu has now confirmed the club are already expecting him to move on this summer.

“I think he is ready for the next step, and I think that he will leave. We take it into account in any case,” he said.

Where Depay ends up, however, remains to be seen. Many view Manchester United as the favourites due to Louis van Gaal’s connections with the Netherlands national team but as This Is Futbol informed you earlier this week, Dutch football expert Mark van der Kraan rates Liverpool’s chances somewhat higher.

They’ve sent scouts and representatives to almost every fixture involving the Eredivisie sensation this season, and that enthusiasm could lure him to Anfield instead.
